Originally from Scotland, Moira began her vast career in the music business at A&M Records’ head office in London. Moving on to CBS, Moira worked internationally before being posted to Sydney where she managed many of CBS’ satellite labels.
Moira delivered many chart toppers during her time at CBS and artists she managed frequently earned musical accolades including Countdown Awards to Best Debut Album and Promising New Artist Awards. Moira also founded the Little Big Music label, managing artists such as Grammy-award winner Glen Hansard.
At the height of the 1980s, Richard Branson selected Moira to head up Virgin Records Australia – his first female senior executive. During Moira’s time at Virgin the label enjoyed huge commercial success with star acts Culture Club, Peter Gabriel, Human League, Public Image Ltd, Simple Minds and more.
Moira has also been heavily involved in community events management and marketing. As Manager of Member Benefits at Middle Harbour Yacht Club in Sydney, and Marketing Manager at Portsea Golf Club Moira staged numerous member events, dinners and shows. As Lismore City Centre Manager, Moira arranged markets, craft and produce, live music shows and worked with Tropical Fruits (LGBT) organisation to stage a week-long series of events held annually in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. Moira worked collaboratively with local tourism offices and Chamber of Commerce to attract visitors and business nationally and internationally to the local region.
Moira has since focused her energies on the live music entertainment. She is now expert in packaging new productions, showcasing local talent and paying homage to past greats along the way.
In 2014 Room 8 produced Let’s Get It On – The Life And Music Of Marvin Gaye. As well as touring throughout Australia, the show opened to rave reviews at the prestigious Nelson Mandela Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa. Moira also produced the 2015 comedy/cabaret show Bugle Boys – A Salute To The Andrews Sisters.
In conjunction with Simon Myers, Moira has produced several other successful shows including At Last – The Etta James Story and Grievous Angel – The Legend of Gram Parsons.
